They were not preventing one another the prohibitions they were doing, how wretched they had been doing!
This verse portrays the characters of Jews during Messenger Muhammad's time. But there was no a codified Book for them at that time. Today, the Fujjar who read these verses by hiding and rejecting Adhikr are learning, teaching, and propagating books written by the pseudo-prophets and hypocrites. Their hypocritical leaders even don’t disclose any of the forty names of Lord’s Book Adhikr. They have become the Mujirims as explained in verse 4: 74. These true disbelievers by forgetting the Lord are commanding evils, forbidding wholesome things, and are niggard as explained in verses 9: 67-68. They utter Qur’an and Allah by their tongue while their heart doesn't testify it as explained in verse 5: 41. These transgressors by forgetting the Lord and the aim of life prefer bodily and worldly life without considering the soul and Hereafter. The similitude of these aimless and heedless Fujjar is compared to that of a dog that never changes its attitude whether disturbed or not as explained in verses 7: 175-176. Adhikr will increase to these filthy Fujjar nothing except filth over filth as explained in verses 9: 28, 95, and 125.
Adhikr is the Splendid Book, the Balance, and Trust to keep the universe in its equilibrium, the Ticket for returning to Paradise, and the Safeguard against all calamities, disasters, diseases, and Hell. If the Fujjar are hiding and rejecting Adhikr, the Impartial Lord will entrust It to other people who will not do so as explained in verses 6: 89-90.
